August 14th, 2008Metallica visits Mango
August 7th, 2008James Hetfield, lead singer of the metal rock band Metallica, came over to visit Miss Mango. Of course, Hetfield arrived under the alias - Jeff Bobay - a good friend of ours. Since his singing career is over - or should be over - he has plenty of time to play with Rebekah. Jeff gave her the nickname Miss Mango, so if you hate it or love it you can talk to him. ;)
It’s rumored Rebekah might join the old-timer rock band because of her powerful lungs. Her screams are just what the band is looking for. Plus, they are trying to revive their younger audience. Below, Rebekah gives Hetfield a sample of her skills.
Could she be red?
August 7th, 2008Well it looks like Scott and I might have contributed to the 5% redhead population!! Her hair seems to look like mine - light brown but red in certain light. We think it’s fantastic. Turns out Scott thinks he remembers having some redheaded cousins.
In other hair news, she has a blonde spot on the left side of her head. It looks like a bald spot from far away but when you look close there are actually blonde hairs there. Don’t know if she’ll grow out of it or not. Guess we’ll have to wait and see. :)

July 25th, 2008Thanks Mom
July 25th, 2008My mom spent the first 12 days of Rebekah’s life with us. It was wonderful to have her here. This is actually the most time we’ve spent together since I’ve moved away to college 10 years ago.
Meeting Rebekah for the first time.
When I saw her hold Rebekah she looked just like what I remember when I saw her holding my younger siblings.
Mom spoiled us rotten. She cooked every meal, did the dishes, bought diapers & food, taught me about caring for an infant, eased my first-time mom nerves and spent lots of time bonding with her granddaughter.
Mom’s hand gives Rebekah a little ledge to push from during tummy time.
I was incredibly sad to say goodbye to her on Tuesday. Having my mom around after giving birth was a precious time for me. We’ve always been very close. I hope to have that same relationship with Rebekah as she grows up. Thank you Mom.

July 25th, 2008Thank you!
July 21st, 2008I wanted to thank everyone for all the well wishes and support. We’ve received a ton of emails, calls and comments on Lexey’s blog. We’re very happy that you all want to share this awesome moment with us. We look forward to introducing Rebekah to you in person when things have settled down.
Daddy time
July 21st, 2008So far these are my favorite photos of Scott and our little mango. Taken the Fabulous Lexey of course. They look so happy with each other. He’s already back at work so he misses her during the day. I send him cell phone pics of her from home so he never goes too long without her. He’s also been working hard trying to get our house in better order. We didn’t have her room ready at all before she was born. We’re getting close to done though.
