We’re homeowners!!!

It finally happened!! We bought a home today. We got a call Tuesday morning that the utility easement issue had been taken care of. We had been waiting for so long for anything to happen it was kind of crazy how quickly it all went down over the past 48 hours. Honestly, I didn’t think it was going to happen at all.

We’ve got a lot ahead of us now. Over the next two weeks we’ll be very busy with cleaning, packing, moving, etc. Actually, most of that work will be on Scott’s shoulders since I can’t lift anything heavy anymore. Thankfully several friends have volunteered to help. With only 7 weeks until Baby Duso arrives I am really happy that I have a place to put her crib.

At 30 weeks I feel pretty big and awkward. I’ve lost my ability to move around in a lady like fashion. Despite this, my best-friend Lexey Swall-Bobay was able to help me feel beautiful and graceful on a photo shoot last Monday. Lexey is a fabulous photographer. Her images always amaze me. She’ll be photographing the birth documentary style so stay tuned!!

In honor of Mother’s Day I want to share with you some moments with my mom. The above photo was taken in June 1981, mom was 28 and I was almost 3 years old. This is my favorite picture of her. I think she is absolutely beautiful. She still has that wonderful smile today.

Since I’ve been pregnant I find myself thinking of her more often. I feel our bond is even stronger now that I know what it feels like to be a mother too. I love you mom. I hope you enjoy seeing these moments again.

Here she plays poker with my brothers Sam, left, and Matthew, right, at Thanksgiving 2006. Mom is always the life at the party. My siblings and I are lucky to have a mom that is so much fun to be around.

Portrait session at my wedding. It was hard for us to keep a straight face. I think my love of laughter comes from her. A fine quality to inherit.  momprayer.jpg

Mom blessing me in prayer with my bridesmaids before I walked down the aisle on August 4, 2007. This moment is one that I will cherish forever. Many thanks to my friend John Stubler who captured it. My mother’s spiritual guidance and blessings have brought me great strength and peace.

She just came to Florida for a visit. Here we are checking out the backyard of the house Scott and I hope to buy. (And I look as wide as the house.) It was wonderful to spend time with her. I hate being 3000 miles away.

…still waiting…

We still don’t have a closing date on the house. Our lawyer is working to get the utility companies to sign “no disturbance” contracts. We don’t really know how long it will take for the companies to respond, but we’ve been warned it will be a couple weeks. So we’re still in limbo, living among boxes.

Sleepless nights at 30 weeks

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Things have been going pretty well throughout this pregnancy. I feel pretty lucky. But, at 30 weeks I am pretty big now (will post a picture soon.) So the pregnancy symptoms are coming on stronger. Sleeping is proving more difficult. My hips just can’t seem to handle lying down very long. I’m pretty much like a rotisserie chicken, turning from one side to the next constantly throughout the night. Thankfully, pregnancy doesn’t last forever!
