Thanks Mom
Friday, July 25th, 2008My mom spent the first 12 days of Rebekah’s life with us. It was wonderful to have her here. This is actually the most time we’ve spent together since I’ve moved away to college 10 years ago.
Meeting Rebekah for the first time.
When I saw her hold Rebekah she looked just like what I remember when I saw her holding my younger siblings.
Mom spoiled us rotten. She cooked every meal, did the dishes, bought diapers & food, taught me about caring for an infant, eased my first-time mom nerves and spent lots of time bonding with her granddaughter.
Mom’s hand gives Rebekah a little ledge to push from during tummy time.
I was incredibly sad to say goodbye to her on Tuesday. Having my mom around after giving birth was a precious time for me. We’ve always been very close. I hope to have that same relationship with Rebekah as she grows up. Thank you Mom.
Grandmas make great pillows
Friday, July 25th, 2008Thank you!
Monday, July 21st, 2008I wanted to thank everyone for all the well wishes and support. We’ve received a ton of emails, calls and comments on Lexey’s blog. We’re very happy that you all want to share this awesome moment with us. We look forward to introducing Rebekah to you in person when things have settled down.
Daddy time
Monday, July 21st, 2008So far these are my favorite photos of Scott and our little mango. Taken the Fabulous Lexey of course. They look so happy with each other. He’s already back at work so he misses her during the day. I send him cell phone pics of her from home so he never goes too long without her. He’s also been working hard trying to get our house in better order. We didn’t have her room ready at all before she was born. We’re getting close to done though.
Hello Everyone! I’ve come up for air…
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008Pics at 37.5 weeks
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008Lexey came over for another portrait session, this time with Daddy Duso. I LOVE these photos! I’m so lucky that my best friend is an awesome photographer. She’ll be photographing the birth. Most likely the pictures will end up on her blog faster than mine so keep an on her blog - Far Sighted - over the next week.
I won’t go into the gory details but it seems as though I am progressing well. Signs are in favor of her not being late. The official due date is July 17th. My last day at work is tomorrow thank goodness. I’m really looking forward to taking it easy and getting the house ready for our little Mango.
Home life
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008Now that we own a home there is plenty to do. Scott has a home improvement project to do every weekend and has been busy unpacking most nights since we moved in.
So far we’ve been working mainly on the common living areas. The living room and kitchen are put together. The baby’s room is really just boxes at the moment. No worries though, Amy has lent us a co-sleeper crib to use in our room the first 3 months so we have time to get the crib.
While Scott’s been putting in many hours of manual labor I’ve been stuffing my face with chocolate cake. In between feedings I’ve been helping where I can with the house. I actually caulked the baseboards in the bedroom but it killed my back so I just had to stop being so ambitious. At this point typical third trimester woes are keeping me from doing too much - swollen legs and feet, exhaustion, back ache, crankiness. Lots of fun to be around I’m sure!
Moving Day - June 7, 2008
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008A month ago we moved into the new house. I gathered as many strapping, young men as I could to help. The boys decided using the front door just wasn’t good enough. Above: Scott lowers our kitchen table from the balcony of our second floor apartment to Jeff, left, and Omar, right.
Despite the heat Karsten, center, breaks out a smile while moving the desk with Omar, left. Throughout this whole process we’ve gotten a lot of help from friends. A big thanks to Rolando, Emilio, Omar, Karsten, Belinda, Jeff, Bob, Joe & Amy. The move went so much quicker, we couldn’t have done it without them. It’s been a great blessing.
